8 insights to what I do behind the scenes
The Rules:
1. I have to post these rules before I give you the facts.
2. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules. (**if you’re a non-blogger, you can email them!)
4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
5. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
My eight random facts and/or habits:
1. I love playing games. I'll make up my own games and tell other people the rules. I'll change the rules if I have to in order to KEEP ON WINNING! Some of my favorite games were while living in crowded ol' Charlestown we'd play the double-letter car game like a SAAB was a double A, JEEP a double E, NISSAN a double S,
PASSAT a double S, JETTA a double T, the list goes on and on and when you drive past a million parked cars on the street, it was a great way to keep from getting clausterphobic.
Another great Boston game was called "Dunk It." On every street corner there is a Dunkin Donuts. The game was modelled after BOOZE IT -- you see a billboard or beer can and first one to call Booze it gets a point. Well, it wasn't just the actual DD stores in Boston, but you'd see trash everywhere... old coffee cups or Dunkin Donuts napkins in the gutters. Those counted, too. And I was a hawkeye for finding the goods.
2. I won best overall mascot at USA Mascot Cheer Camp in high school. All the other mascots did flips in their full-blown mascot suits. All I had was a paper bag over my head with holes punched out for the eyes and I went to town!
3. Don and I love words. We love playing with words and pokin' fun at others how they use words. It keeps us laughing when times grow stressful for whatever the reason.
4. I recently tried to give up diet coke. I am back on it with a vengence.
5. I could play frisbee with my favorite dog all day long.
6. I can't tolerate alcohol beverages anymore. One makes me very, very, very sleepy. Night night.
7. I could take pictures all day long day after day after day after day and love every stinkin' minute of it. I love figuring out difficult lighting situations and I really love capturing that perfect expression from Rosa Jane or anyone else for that matter.
8. I love excel spreadsheets. I love that it does the math for you and I feel exhilarated after figuring out just how soon we'll be out of debt forever. Yeah, right... well, at least until that buying urge for either of us becomes too strong to resist any more.
Ok...it is your turn Sally, Don, Katherine, Honey, Nicole, Hilary, Amy H, Cheryl and Laurie.

Rosa Jane Learns New Tricks
Lately we've been playing the game "Raise Your Hand If You..." eat raisins, for example. Rosa Jane is really cute at it and she's gotten to saying "I do!" so preciously, if that's a word. Just recently she named her first baby doll "Baby Caren." We're not completely sure if this comes from "Aunt C", but we'll toss her a bone and say it is. ;-)

Rosa Jane steps on Brett's Crab
Normally I would have done something to stop Rosa Jane from hurting Brett's feelings like this. But Rosa Jane and I both knew that the previous day RJ took a little tumble on the stairs on account of Brett's shove. Since she wasn't really stomping the dead crab, I thought it was okay if she just rested her foot upon it. At any rate it made for some hilarious pictures from animated Brett.

Jennifer and Reghan
A brief glimpse at this cute Mother/Daughter team. ;-)
On a side note, I'm pleased to report Rosa Jane and I had our first Mommy/Daughter makeover this morning. She was still enough so that we could paint all our toes orange! When given the choice between pink and orange, Rosa Jane picked orange.
Stay tuned . . .

Meet Will and Caroline
They are our cousins who live in Colorado. We were so happy they came to Austin for the weekend and we were able to drop in on them on our way out of town.
Our trip to Galveston was the longest ever. We left at 11am and pulled into the beach house around 6:30. We had to wait an hour fifteen minutes for the ferry from Galveston and the traffic through Houston was stop and go even at 2:30. Even though RJ screamed for a good three hours of the trip, we stopped by our friends from Boston who have since moved to Houston. It turns out their beautiful home is real near my high school friend's house, too. They were real nice to accommodate a little dog poo in their yard and an adorable, but snotty nosed toddler.
So now we're at the beach and we're throwing all our cares to the wind.
See ya!

The Dawn of a New Era
Yesterday I was taking Rosa Jane's picture in her swimsuit on the back deck when she did it -- she totally cheesed out for the camera. It's a delicate situation we're in from here on out. ;-)
When Rosa Jane had an "accident" we decided it was time to put back on her diaper and come in side. So we were playing in her room. The game was hide the ball from Hanky. Rosa Jane kept putting the ball in her crib so Hanky would jump over her head and into the crib to fetch it. We were both laughing our heads off. And that's when Don creeped open the door. He was home early from work and wanted to jump in the fun, too!

Ah, a newborn!
Our friends down the street called us for a playdate and I grabbed my camera when I heard there would be a newborn there. Ashley is her name and boy is she a sweetie!
Today was a really great and fun day!

WHEW! So FASSSST, Rosa Jane!
I've been toting Rosa Jane in my back pocket these last few weeks as I go to pilates/conditioning classes at the park. Rosa Jane picked up on my grunts when straining with situps and weights and she watches me run, run, run uphill fast!
Now it's her turn to run uphill. I said, "Come, Cute Girl, Come!" and it worked like a charm. Next thing I knew I was being toppled by a giggling toddler.
I really think THIS is my favorite age. She's getting my jokes and says, "Mommy's fun!"
What little mama doesn't want to hear that?

the current scene of the crime
I hung a cluster of photos this morning and I'm right proud of their straightness. Just wait until Donnie gets home. I'm sure they'll all be crooked by then and driving him crazy!
Thank goodness he loves me so much!!

Kate and Ro-Ro
Kate came with me to pick up "Ro-Ro" early from preschool yesterday and that was just the beginning of all the laughs we had together. The girls giggled and squealed and kissed each other. They jumped in Ro-Ro's crib for a good thirty minutes. It was hilarious... the first time I'd seen RJ curl her legs up in a jump cannonball fashion. I got a little video of it, but of course not to the extent that they were doing it before.
Anyway, there is no doubt that these are the best of friends.... and I really love that because we like Kate's family so very much, too.

They Just Naturally Grabbed Hands
It's so cute to watch your daughter make girlfriends. Last week we went swimming in our first city public pool. It was nice to not have to pay a single cent to walk through the gate, but when a hair floated onto my hand I about nearly gagged. ;-)
Check out the pictures to see more of how we're spending these long summer days... not to mention racy swim suit pics!
